BSME Events Not To Be Missed

BSME IPAD EVENT

After the hype, the buzz and the initial moment of joy comes the hangover and that burning question: what does iPad actually mean for me?

At BSME we wanted to move the debate on from the hype and look at the reality of iPad. This event seeks to answer these questions:

* What are magazine people currently doing with iPad?
* Are any of them having any success?
* What should I be doing?
* The whizz-bang opportunities are all very well but how do I actually resource it?
* What does it mean for my subscriptions business?
* What does 'best in class' currently look like?
* What are the clangers to avoid?
... and more.

We've hand-picked a panel of industry experts who are already deep into exploring iPad and its opportunities. They include:  Andrew Harrison, Editor-At-Large at The Word magazine, Alex Breuer, Design Editor  (features) at The Times who is responsible for iPAD editorial design development and Creative Director of magCulture and commentator/blogger, Jeremy Leslie.

BSME PREVIEW SCREENING - MADE IN DAGENHAM

The UK may have joined Europe in treating August as holiday month, but our August events are always popular for those stuck at their desks. So, many thanks to Paramount Pictures UK for this month’s do: an exclusive BSME preview screening of Made In Dagenham - scheduled for general release on 1st October.

Here’s the blurb:

“From the director of Calendar Girls, this new feel good film stars the award winning Sally Hawkins as Rita O’Grady, the catalyst for the 1968 Ford Dagenham strike by 187 sewing machinists which led to the advent of the Equal Pay Act.  Working in extremely impoverished conditions and for long arduous hours, the women at the Ford Dagenham plant finally lay down their tools when they are reclassified as “unskilled”.  With humour, common sense and courage they take on their corporate paymasters, an increasingly belligerent local community, and finally the government itself.”
