BSME EDUCATION

With our BSME Education initiative, we have been busy growing and building various education projects, from mentoring schemes to webinars and guest lectures. Our initiative will see top editors and magazine experts working with education centres, including schools, colleges, and universities through lectures, webinars, mentorship sessions, and visits to primary and secondary schools.

BSME Education key points:

BSME Education provides invaluable access to skilled individuals with practical knowledge of the industry, including established editors of publications like Digital Spy, Good Housekeeping, Grazia, Marketing Week, Pulse, Glamour, Car Magazine, Match of the Day and The Week.

The programme will pair as many students and graduates with as many valuable mentors as possible, making the magazine industry accessible to all. It will work to promote diversity and inclusivity and offer opportunities for all students.

If you are an Education centre interested in booking editors or an interested student wishing to participate in the programme, please contact us below.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

BSME Education, wants to give students and people who are about to embark on their journeys in the magazine industry an overview of the exciting and diverse roles this industry has to offer.

Therefore, professionals share their typical days at work, give insider tips on how to make it in the industry,
and explain what their roles involve and what skills are important and
necessary to succeed.

MENTORSHIP INITIATIVE

At the BSME, we want to nurture new talent and give students and young professionals the chance to learn more about the magazine industry and upskill themselves through various initiatives, resources, and programmes. One of these opportunities is the BSME Mentorship Initiative. This programme allows young talent to take part in a 10-minute mentoring session with one of the BSME committee members, and receive first-hand advice from the UK’s leading editors and media professionals.

ACADEMIC TESTIMONIAL

“This sort of joined-up thinking between unis and the BSME has provided the link both academia and the industry need to get students job-ready and to give the industry access to the new talent and voices they’re looking for.”

— Alison McClintock, Roehampton University
